Through the month of October we will be collecting paper goods, personal hygiene items, and non-perishable food items for Bright Horizons. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and this is one way you can honor the month while helping our partner, Bright Horizons. Items ready for donation can be placed in the tote in the narthex area. Bright Horizons offers free, confidential services and resources for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.
At First United, we strive to tell kids two things: God loves them, and so do we. Help us spread our message of love by attending our Children’s Sabbath worship at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 13. Our annual Children’s Sabbath is a time to reflect on God’s gift of children, and the ways we as a church and individuals can renew our commitment to care for, protect and advocate for all children. Our annual church conference will be held at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 20 in Wesley Hall. All members are invited to join together along with our District Superintendent, Rev. Dr. Nancy Tomlinson, to discuss and vote on important matters of our church and the year ahead. This meeting will include naming our vision together, electing our lay leadership, setting our budget and compensation for the pastors, and other business. Please make plans to attend this important meeting.
