UMW STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

Norfolk First United Methodist Women are always busy. On June 17 and 18 they conducted the church service for United Methodist Women Day. The service was planned by Cherry Avery, LaRene Konopasek, Lorraine Naslund and Charlotte Reed with many others helping to make it special. Accompanist was Betty Frank, Special Music was provided by Stephanie Kudera, the speaker was Lorraine Naslund who spoke about water as a gift from God. She used the text from John, the Woman at the Well. Thanks to ALL who helped.
July 4th they will be serving Pancakes and Sausage in Wesley Hall. Baked goods will be on sale as well as greeting cards.
School of Christian Mission will be held in Grand Island at Midtown Holiday Inn on July 21-23 and 23-26. Deadline for registration is July 6. Several from the Unit and Harold Wittler are attending.
The first Unit meeting of the fall will be a week early on AUGUST 31 at 12:30. This is a potluck luncheon with area units attending. The speaker will be Miriam Miller who has worked as a Mission Volunteer in Red Bird Missionary Conference in Kentucky.
On Saturday, September 9, the UNIT will host the Northeast District United Methodist Women Fall meeting.
